I went to Salon Films to check out the ZCAM E2 to learn more about the camera and have a hands on experience and here are the pros and cons I have found, however it is still a great M4/3 Cinema Camera to consider.
Pros:
- Compact size to use on gimbals or as an action cam that is easy to hide
- Frames rate of 4k 120 / 160 ( 2.4:1 crop ) on an affordable budget cinema camera without a time limit.
- Prores 422 internal recording no need for external recorders
- H265 more compressed smaller file sizes
- Able to record over USB type-C with inexpensive SSD
- Sony NPF battery enable long hours of recording
- Portkey BM5 monitor that can control exposure setting of the camera
- Wired Smartphone Monitoring and remote control via USB type-C or Network cable with no LAG
- Powered by SONY NP-F batteries, giving option using large F970 or F990 which can record for many hours
- D-TAP DC adapter to power with V-Mount Batteries
- DC adapter to power with a wall plug
Cons
- An external monitor is a must, making it look to pro for certain locations use
- Bad ergonomic as no gripping area and must rig up for handheld uses
- Odd button placement in front of the camera, but ideal for standing behind the camera nor when its rigged up
