I bought a Neewer MS-300C Carbon Microphone boompole, as I saw it was sold for quite a nice price of €109 which is actually quite affordable for a carbon boompole. Also the benefit of carbon boom pole over an aluminium boom pole is that carbon does not transfer sound as much and dampens the sound of your hand especially when moving your hand or finger around while booming. So if you are using an aluminium boom, I suggest to wear gloves to lessen the sound, your can would make.

Unboxing the Neewer MS-300c it comes with a nice bag to carry it in and to my surprise there is a velcro pocket that contains a manual with few adapter and also a strap for the boom. Though I myself would never put a strap around the boom, if I am doing sound on a film set, but there might be other kinds of uses of this boom pole.

The boompole it self is well build and does not look nor feel like a budget boom, its locks and unlocks quite smooth and easy. Also the main reason why I bought it, I can hear clearly a big difference and the Neewer is not as audible, due too its carbon tube design.

One downside of this boom is that the bottom is made from metal and would scratch easily, however it does have a 3/8 thread which means you can attach a rubber feel onto the boompole to protect it from scratching.

The reason why I choose this Neewer MS-300C boom pole over other brands is that this is quite an affordable carbon 3 meter boom pole. As for Deity Boom Pole cost almost double of the Neewer, but its also a shorter 2.5 meter boom pole. While Rode Carbon Boompole exist for a long time, but haven’t have a good experience with it, especially the locks don’t provide enough grip to easily unlock it and seen it ofter being hard to unlock in the winter cold.

Overal the Neewer MS-300C is a great entry level carbon boom pole for a starting boom operator especially for the price of $100 you get a really good boom to start with and also a nice bag to transport it in.
