Having seen several tutorials online that showed the wrong way of making the callout like using shapes and masking, the quickest and easiest way to do it is with the write-on effect, as most people don’t know you can easily make straight lines also. As most don’t know the there are bezier handles that causes the curves, but they are easily altered to remove the curvy lines.
