You might have seen these design images being posted about the next XC15, however these are the design is. for the C50 and we can spot different features it will have. Eventhough it looks like a built in lens, they will replace it with a RF mount.

Its design will be competing with the boxy cameras like ZCAM and Panasonic DC-BGH1, but the C50 will include a s35mm sensor, a large tilt screen on the back with two full size XLR ports under it, also it will have a build in ND and able to add a side grip with control.

Size wise without the grip it should be much smaller then the Canon C70 and it will be using Canon LPE6 batteries instead of the larger Canon BPA. But also next to the battery we can spot a CFast and a SD card slot, while C70 only have SD card slots.

However it might seem that this camera, might be better than the C70 with having build in large XLR and Cfast to write higher bitrate files. We kinda know how they will market this camera to not compete much with the C70.

As one might know the EOS C70 is often praised as the Mini C300 markiii, we should look at the EOS C50 as a mini c200 with RF mount, making possible to put a speedbooster on to get a full frame like field of view. So we can expect the C200 sensor inside the c50 enable to film 4k 60p Raw in camera to CFast, but the cripple hammer will be that the C50 does not include any 10bit recording features and be able to record 8bit 420 to the SD card.

Price will be around 3000usd making it more affordable than the C70, yet still cost more than Blackmagic Pocket 6K which have better codecs. But its not really competing with the Pocket 6k as the C50 having ND, XLR and Dual Pixel autofocus will be a more easier workflow of a camera without much need off additional accessories.

What are your thought about the rumored C50? Would you buy it for 3000usd?
